We are doing some exciting things in art!
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students have started working on their Red Ribbon Week posters for the district contest hosted annually by our sensational Lion's Club of River Oaks!
3rd grade students will focus on the consequences of using tobacco products.
4th grade students will focus on the consequences of abusing alcohol.
5th grade students will focus on the consequences of using illegal drugs.

2nd, 1st grade and kindergarten students have begun digging into the art toolbox of elements.

Last week, we learned all about lines!
2nd grade was introduced to a French artist named Henri Rousseau!
Rousseau was fascinated by jungle scenes even though he had never visited an actual jungle. He spent a lot of time studying various plants in the local botanic garden in Paris. He used the plants he saw as inspiration for many of his jungle scenes.
Using Rousseau as inspiration, we created micro views of leaves using a variety of lines in multiple directions to create shapes of leaf texture.
We will finish those this week with oil pastels!
1st grade students read The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle and used line in multiple directions to create our very own spider webs. We will finish those this week with color!

Kindergarten students read Lines that Wiggle and identified different lines we see everywhere!
Using crayons, we drew a variety of lines in different colors, then used watercolor to create a wax resist.
