Lines and Starry Nights!

This week, we learned about line as an element of  art!
Elements are what we use to create art and line is one of seven elements.
We had a special guest visitor in the art room.
Mr. Vincent Van Gogh visited to tell use about how he used lines while painting The Starry Night!

Take a look at The Starry Night.
Do you see lines?  The kind of lines Van Gogh used are called gesture lines. These types of lines are usually used to show expression or movement. They help describe parts of the image.
How do you think the lines around the moon and stars describe them?
What do you think the big swirl in the sky represents?
How would you draw a starry night from outside your window?
How would it compare to Van Gogh's?
In what ways would it be different?
